Cheap Old Navy coats

Hey guys- Old Navy is having an outerwear sale up to 50% off all their coats, etc. Plus if you go on their website there's a 30% off coupon you can print and bring in store (online it excludes outerwear). So today I got a coat for Avery that was regularly $40, on sale for $20 and with a coupon it was only $14. Not bad!! I think this goes through Tues 11/8. There was a ton of colors/sizes at the Brookfield Mall store.

Sussex Lions Daze

Sussex Lions Daze is coming up this weekend - July 14-17. It's located at Sussex Village Park and they have all kinds of carnival type things to do - rides, food, bingo, etc.

We especially like to go to the parade. It's in downtown Sussex on Saturday, July 16th at 4pm. Last year we showed up right before it started and got great seats. They gave away TONS of candy. My kids got 2-3 otter pops, little nylon backpacks, stickers, tattoos, and all the tootsie rolls and dum dums you could ever want. If anyone wants to join us, it's only 2 blocks from our house so you can park at our place and walk with us up there. Let me know.

On Friday, July 15th they also set off fireworks at Dusk at Sussex Village Park.

Check out their website for more details: http://www.sussexlions.org/lionsdaze/index.htm

Strawberries!

Hey ALDI has strawberries on sale for $0.99/ea this week! I've been waiting for a sale like this so I could stock up and make strawberry jam. So I just made up a couple batches. Yum! Happy strawberry season!

They're also on sale for $1.49/ea at Pick n Save today (not sure about starting tomorrow).

Childcare Position

I was at the park this morning and came across a nice woman with a son.  As we got to talking, she asked me if I knew of any good daycare programs or of any moms who would be interested in watching her 13 month old son in their home.   It would start this fall.  I don’t know what the pay is, but I told her I would ask around and see if there was any interest.  Consider this my asking around.  If you or anyone else you know is interested, contact her directly.  Her name is Jenny and her email address is jlellis@uwm.edu

Peaches!

I know it’s still a couple of months away, but I wanted to make sure the word got out.  If anyone is interested at all in canning peaches this summer (or just eating them), you have to check this company out – www.tree-ripe.com.  I bought 3 boxes of peaches from them last year and will be buying at least that many again this year.  They are straight from Georgia and they are seriously the best peaches I have ever tasted.  I’m counting down the days until they come!

Milwaukee Perks

Hey there are a couple good deals on Milwaukee Perks today. First is half off at Betty Brinn's (4 tix for $12). I like these because we only go there a couple times a year anyways - not enough to justify a membership.

Another deal we like is a half off to Nino's Italian Bakery in Menomonee Falls (spend $5 get a $10 gift certificate). They have great sandwiches and all kinds of bakery items.

You can find both deals at this link: http://bit.ly/fbNwcj (The Betty Brinn deal is in the side bar on the right).

Half Price Deals

This site has a few good ones right now. I LOVED the one for Hectors restaurant in Wauwatosa. It's $12.50 for a $50 gift certificate. I did it, we ate there, it works! The only catch is that is has to be used by the end of the month. The shipping times say they are long, I did the standard shipping and got it in two days.

Discovery World too...going fast!

Free Bowling for Kids

If you're looking for something to do with the kids this summer, try bowling (for FREE!). AMF bowling lanes has a summer promotion going on. You register with them online and they'll email you weekly coupons for free bowling with your kids (shoe rentals are extra). Not a bad way to spend a summer afternoon! Check it out at http://freebowling.amf.com/. The nearest bowling center to me is only 2 1/2 miles away from my house. Not too bad.

Boston Store Clearance

Boston Store is having a great clearance sale right now. Yesterday, I snagged a formal dress tagged at $120 for $5. Got a pair of designer jeans for Jake for $15. They had a decent selection of winter boots if you want something for next year (and the rest of this year). Yellow tag is 70% off of clearance. Awesome!

Free Days at Art Institute of Chicago

Beginning in June, the Art Institute of Chicago will offer free admission all day on the first and second Wednesday of the month.  If you haven't been, it is a fabulous museum--definitely worth a day trip.  If you don't want to wait 'til then, children under 14 are always free, and adult admission is $18.  Parking is another factor, though, and will cost you at least $25.  But who can put a price on cultural awareness?

The Children's Place is having their monster sale online. There were some pretty great deals (I got cord pants for Brooklyn for $5). Promo code RETAILMENOT1C for 15% off your entire order.
Happy Shopping!

Diaper Study

There are a lot of diaper research opportunities out there.  I’ve tried a few and come across this one: http://nietoresearch.com/.  You don’t get paid for it, but you do get free diapers, and it’s super easy.  All you do is track the diaper changes, do a questionnaire as you finish each product and then one final survey at the end.  No returning nasty diapers!  I’m doing one right now with Ben and I got 20 regular Huggies, 20 Kirkland brand and 20 Huggies supreme. I have tested Pampers and other brands in the past, as well as Pull-ups.  Like I said, you don’t get paid, but I got 2 weeks of free diapers.  They also test wipes and tampons.

$10 for a $20 Amazon gift card

Did anyone else see this deal on Living Social?  If you use Amazon Mom for diapers, this could cut the already great cost of a box of diapers even more!  And even if you don’t buy diapers, what doesn’t Amazon have?  Check it out here:  https://livingsocial.com/deals/21336?ref=conf-jp&rpi=4424405

Parenting Blog

I came across this blog from another blog that I read and thought I would share.  It’s http://katyshamitz.blogspot.com/.  She is a child and family coach and consultant.  Basically it’s just little parenting tips, things I think most of us can use.  She covers things from organization to preschool anger, defiance, and teaching gratitude.  I think it’s definitely one worth adding to your list of blogs.

Hey! I just bought this deal from LivingSocial Deals: A Five-Visit ($20) or Ten-Visit Pass ($35) (https://livingsocial.com/deals/18803?ref=iphone-conf-jp&rui=12507404) The deal is only available for 18 more hours, so check it out and get in while you still have the chance!

It's just a couple blocks from the Marcus Majestic Theatres in Brookfield. Super fun for kids - just like Flabbergast. Let me know who buys this deal so we can go together!

FREE Baby Swing

I have a Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium Cradle Swing. I was going to haul it off to Goodwill, but wanted to put it out there first. It's a good condition, it's pretty durable. Music and swing both work fine. Although, FYI, it's not brand spankin new; I purchased it off of Craigslist two kiddos ago. (Though, that said, I love it and it works!)
