Unique Christmas Shopping

For one week University School (the private school in River Hills) holds a Christmas fair where vendors from all over the country bring their "shops" to the auditorium.  I've never been, but I checked out the vendors and it looks like a pretty amazing spread of cool things you probably can't get around here.  On the link below you can find a 50% off coupon to get in.  I can't tell if it's $10 or $5 or $20 to get in.  Maybe someone else can figure it out.  Anyway, a portion of the proceeds goes to benefit the school ( I know, do they really need it?!) and I think everything the school puts on is pretty impressive.  Check it out:

Flu Shot

I don't know if anyone else is having a hard time finding a clinic that still has some flu shots left. I was waiting for the Kohl's clinic to get all the employees theirs so I could get mine but they ran out. As did Walgreens, my OB, and the other 2 doctors I see. Luckily everyone else in my family has had theirs. I did find this website, http://www.aurorahealthcare.org/services/vna/shooflu/index.asp. Aurora has a traveling flu shot clinic, and they still have plenty of shots available. I will be heading down to Sendik's to get mine. The only catch is that they will only vaccinate kids 9 and up, so you still need to get to pediatrician for the kids.

Sentry General Mills deal

So, sentry is having a sale right now on GM products- cereals, chex mix, yogurts, granola bars, pillsbury stuff, etc... There are also a bunch of coupons that match up on coupons.com. Anyway, if you buy 10 of the participating products, you get $5 off your total. Here are some of the things I noticed would be free if you go to a Sentry on a double coupon day (72nd and Lisbon on Wed. and Thurs.- and 92nd and Lisbon on Thurs. and Fri.- and Menomonee Falls on Friday).

Yo-delights, fiber one yogurt, or Yo-plus yogurt are 2/3.98
you should be able to print two of each $1 off coupon for each variety
(free yogurt after double coupon)
Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters are 2.50
you should be able to print 2 $1 off coupons
(50 cents each after doubled coupon)
2 boxes of cereal for 2.50 each
print just one (unless you want to do multiple transactions) $1 off coupon
(1.50 each after double coupons)
So, your total after this should be $5, then since you bought 10 items, you should get $5 off, making your total $0. Hurray, free food.

There are a ton of other combinations you can do and other types of coupons on coupons.com. Just check and see what you and your family eat, and you really can get a good deal. Also, you can usually print two coupons from each computer, so if you have multiple computers, you could do better than free with the yogurt coupons. They won't give you money back, but if you buy milk or something, the $5 will come off whatever else in on your tab.

Five. Five Dollar. Five Dollar Costume!

Okay, I mentioned this at Book Club tonight, but realized it was NOT linked to my blog like I thought, so I'll post it here, for other frugal Milwaukee Moms.

Every weekday at 9am BuyCostumes.com has five costume deals that cost less than five dollars. They have a couple of other deals on the same page, but those $5 deals are usually pretty cool. I just don't usually catch them because I don't remember to check until after 10am and those deals go FAST! Since I have yet to catch a deal both at the right time and something I need/want, I don't know what shipping is, but it still sounds like a pretty good deal, nonetheless.

Refashioned t-shirt

Another gem from Sutton Grace blog. Check this out. She took one of her old shirts and turned it into a darling shirt for her daughter. A.dorable! And, she has more refashioned pieces in other posts. AND she's LDS (I saw a post about an enrichment activity)

Flu Shot Reminder

I've been meaning to write a short post about getting your flu shot, and was reminded when a friend did so on her blog. For those of you who are moms, the CDC is recommending that all children ages 6 months - 18 years get a H1N1 vaccine. Also, pregnant women are considered high-risk if they contract H1N1, so the CDC also recommends vaccination. I know that not all people are pro-vaccine, but if you are planning to have yourself or your children vaccinated for H1N1, now is the time to get your "regular" seasonal flu shot. Both my pediatrician and my OB told me that you need to have the "regular" shot (or mist) at least 20 days before H1N1. My pediatrician said that the stock of H1N1 vaccines that is being given to their office will be partially based on how many seasonal flu shots were given; and that by getting my kids their regular vaccine, we should not have to worry about the availability of the swine flu vaccine, as we will be given priority. Anyway, it's my understanding that H1N1 will be available late October to early November...so, there's my rant for the day...hope no one is offended...

Free nursing covers (plus $8.95 shipping)

Even though this is an online thing, I'm posting it anyway! (Because maybe someone else can't sew these things, either, or would spend $9 on material, etc. and not like the way it turned out. Or maybe you just don't have the time.) They actually do sell them in Mequon at a little boutique store.Even if you're not interested, just check out the modeling moms. Is that how I'm supposed to look when I nurse? Or maybe how I COULD look if I just had one of those covers. Sign me up! :)
I don't know how long the code will last. You pay $8.95 shipping and handling.

Friday Night Out???

Jake is going to Chicago tomorrow night for school. I'm thinking of going out for pizza or something with the kids, just to keep us all busy. I will probably head out early, so we can get home earlier and get them to bed so I can read or something relaxing...anyone interested? (I don't expect anyone to leave their hubbies to hang with me, I just don't know if anyone else is a "widow" tomorrow night)
